My aunt let me borrow her Tandy Color Computer because my cousin didn’t know how to use it. The only computer program I ever wrote was on that computer. I wrote a program in Color BASIC that automated the dice rolling and results table for TSR’s Marvel Super Heroes RPG. I regret not continuing to program.
She then bought a Tandy 1000 with a 286 processor. I learned how to use DOS, played some games, and had fun learning how to use a computer.
The first computer that I actually owned was an 8088 clone with an NEC V20 chip, which supposedly ran faster than the 8088. It had two 5 1/4″ floppy disks, a Hercules graphics card, and an amber monitor. No hard drive. Eventually, I purchased a 1200 baud modem and a 20-meg hard drive.
